About Rajgir
A Traveller in this circuit must realize that he is in a land that was founded in 2000 BCE i.e. around 4000 years ago and will be fascinated to learn and experience the rich culture of this land as he passes through all the carefully chosen points as given below for your convenience. It is a famous pilgrim centre for Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, Islam and Sikh. Rajgir in ancient times was known by many names like kusumati, Vridathpesdhar pur, Girivarj and Kushagerpur, Bajrapati name is found in Ramayan. Like other Buddhist sites of the site is also credited with the discovery by Alexander Cunningham. he made the first excavation here in 1861-1862.
